As a local to the Alamance County area, learn why she thinks having a lively downtown is essential to a thriving city and what her experience working with the City of Mebane has been like thus far. Sugaree Thornton and Steve Krans from the Downtown Mebane Development Corporation present exciting news about a new ordinance getting ready to start in downtown Mebane. A lot of work and preparation were done to bring this ordinance before the Mebane City Council, and now, Mebane is joining a long list of municipalities within North Carolina that have a social district! Listen as they discuss the work that was done to get the ball rolling, the hours of operation, rules, and businesses participating in this endeavor to revitalize our historic downtown and bring more people to Mebane's events, shops, and restaurants!

The City of Mebane prides itself on having advisory committees dedicated to representing the community and giving them a voice. One of those boards is the BPAC, or Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission. As the BPAC Chair, Katy Jones is here to discuss some exciting initiatives/activities currently underway for the city. The Mebane Trail Rangers are eager to educate and advocate for the health and wellness of our community through nature. Founder Sherri Seagroves and Meagan Vaughn, the creator of the Junior Trail Ranger program, discuss the Mebane Trail Rangers' origin story and everything they have accomplished thus far. Executive Director Traci Davenport explains how the Mebane Historical Museum came to be, what exhibits are currently featured, and what exciting new exhibition will be displayed in the New Year.
